The North-South pair, larsg (Lars G Larsson) and jokern (Goran Andersson) are from the "Swedes", a Riko team from (You guessed it!) Sweden. cvogel (Claude Vogel) and I were East-West for the Transnationals.
The time delta between Okbridge time and Swedish time is +9 hours, so our match was played on Sunday at 8 am Okb time which translates to 10 am in sweet-home Chicago for cvogel and I and 5 pm for larsg and jokern in Sweden. Time issues are going to become more and more interesting and important as bridge switches from F2F to online.
This hand came up in the 2nd half of a close match.
Hmm...except for the last bid, everything else in the auction has an exclamation point! larsg's 2
opener was "Multi" showing a weak-two in either major, 2NT asked which, 3
showed hearts, 3
asked for singletons, and 3NT showed a singleton diamond. Hearts were first bid at the six-level, and as often happens with the Multi-2
convention, the hand was played by the partner of the opening bidder.
