Rich Pavlicek has some dynamite bidding and play quizzes on his web site. Here's the URL if you'd like to take a look:
Right around Oscar time Rich had a play quiz entitled, "The Worst Leading Man -- Your Partner" which was about situations where the opening lead was less than optimal. Here's a hand from a recent Riko match between The Deuces and the Westwinds that would have fit right into that quiz.
hlortz (Henry Lortz) and Ohlrich (Wayne Ohlrich) play a disciplined form of EHAA (Every Hand An Adventure) which includes light opening bids so 1
was a normal opening for them.
The opening lead was the spade ace. HY (Henry Yang) ruffed with the 8 (ouch), led the 6 of hearts to dummy's 7 partner following with the 3 (double ouch), and led dummy's queen of spades at trick three (triple ouch and a yikes). What now, cover or duck?
