I googled Giorgio Belladonna for last month's Spectator article. All I wanted was to find out whether his last name had one or two "n"s, but the site list had a number of mentions of an interesting play of Belladonna's that people would like to nominate as a new "coup." The Belladonna Coup.
(BTW, I wonder how a very good play becomes a coup? Is it necessary to cast a vote or fill out a form and mail it to someone? If so, I'm ready to cast my vote and fill out my form. Perhaps you will too after you read this.)
One item of business before proceeding. There are a number of web pages about this coup on the internet and I'm going to crib some material from them. I think the best was by a Dutch player named Lex De Groot, here's the URL. Exit that screen to return here.
This is the hand that started it all.
