Mickey gets dumped when his girlfriend Rose falls for an older man, about 900 years older! But Mickey hangs around the old family digs in London while Rose and the Doctor take off in the TARDIS on a vacation, no wait, a honeymoon, no, no, an adventure, that's what it was. When they get back Mickey helps with some local problems and is asked to join the TARDIS crew at the end of the "School Reunion" story. All of which leaves Rose with two boyfriends crammed into one police box, a bit cramped.
But it doesn't last. Mickey does more Universe-hopping than any of the other companions and at the end of "The Age of Steel" goes to an alternate universe that has his grandmother and a copy of himself, but no Rose and no Doctor. He later comes back to our universe in the story "Army of Ghosts" but Rose ends up back in his universe. Maybe they just weren't meant for each other.
In the "End of Time" story when the Doctor is taking his farewell tour of companions we find that sometime in the future, Mickey is married to Martha, another companion. They decided to hyphenate so Mickey becomes Mickey Smith-Jones. They're off happily fighting Sontarons when the Doctor rescues them from a Sontaron sharpshooter that has them in his cross-hairs.
Mickey is played by Noel Anthony Clarke (born 6 December 1975) is an award winning English actor, director and screenwriter.Clarke didn't go to a drama school but instead studied Media at the University of North London before going on to take classes at London’s Actors Centre.
